That's why we praise Him

4/14/2009

He came to live, live a perfect life
He came to be the living Word of light
He came to die, so we'd be reconciled
He came to rise to show His power and might

And that's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

He came to live, live again in us
He came to be our conquering King and Friend
He came to heal and show the lost ones His love
He came to go prepare a place for us.

That's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

He came to live, live a perfect life
He came to be the living Word of light
He came to die, so we'd be reconciled
He came to rise to show His power and might

And that's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

Halle Hallelujah (10x)

That's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him our everything
That's why we bow down and worship this King
'Cause He gave His everything
'Cause He gave His everything

That's why we praise Him, that's why we sing
That's why we offer Him...

The Holiday Season (or Happy Holiday)

1/08/2009

Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
While the merry bells keep ringing
May your every wish come true

Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
May the calendar keep bringing
Happy Holidays to you

It's the holiday season
And Santa Claus is coming back
The Christmas snow is white on the ground
When old Santa gets into town
He'll be coming down the chimney, down
Coming down the chimney, down

It's the holiday season
And Santa Claus has got a toy
For every good girl and good little boy
He's a great big bundle of joy
He'll be coming down the chimney, down
Coming down the chimney, down

He'll have a big fat pack upon his back
And lots of goodies for you and me
So leave a peppermint stick for old St. Nick
Hanging on the Christmas tree

It's the holiday season
With the whoop-de-do and hickory dock
And don't forget to hang up your sock
"Cause just exactly at 12 o'clock
He'll be coming down the chimney
Coming down the chimney
Coming down the chimney, down!

Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
While the merry bells keep bringing
Happy Holidays to you

Happy Holiday
Happy Holiday
May the calendar keep bringing
Happy Holidays to you
To you
Happy Holiday

The First Noel

The first Noel the angel did say
Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay;
In fields as they lay, keeping their sheep,
On a cold winter's night that was so deep.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel,
Born is the King of Israel.

They looked up and saw a star
Shining in the east beyond them far,
And to the earth it gave great light,
And so it continued both day and night.

And by the light of that same star
Three wise men came from country far;
To seek for a king was their intent,
And to follow the star wherever it went.

This star drew nigh to the northwest,
O'er Bethlehem it took it rest,
And there it did both stop and stay
Right over the place where Jesus lay.

Then entered in those wise men three
Full reverently upon their knee,
And offered there in his presence
Their gold, and myrrh, and frakincense.

Then let us all with one accord
Sing praises to our heavenly Lord;
That hath made heaven and earth of naught,
And with his blood mankind hath bought.

The Holly and the Ivy

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown:
O, the rising of the sun,
And the running of the deer
The playing of the merry organ,
Sweet singing in the choir.

The holly bears a blossom,
As white as lily flow'r,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
To be our dear Saviour:

The holly bears a berry,
As red as any blood,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
To do poor sinners good:

The holly bears a prickle,
As sharp as any thorn,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
On Christmas Day in the morn:

The holly bears a bark,
As bitter as the gall,
And Mary bore sweet Jesus Christ,
For to redeem us all:

The holly and the ivy,
When they are both full grown,
Of all trees that are in the wood,
The holly bears the crown:

The Babe in Bethlehem's manger laid

5/18/2008

The Babe in Bethlehem's manger laid
In humble form so low
By wondering angels is surveyed
Through all His times of woe
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

A Saviour! sinners all around
Sing! spread the wondrous word
Let every one of us hail the sound
A Saviour! Christ the Lord!
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

For not to sit on David's throne
With worldly pomp and joy
He came for sinners to atone
And Satan to destroy
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

To preach the word of Life Divine
And feed with living bread
To heal the sick with hand benign
And raise to life the dead
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

He preached, He suffered, He bled and died
Uplift 'twixt earth and skies
In sinners' stead, He was crucified
For sin, great sacrifice
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

Well may we sing a Saviour's birth
Who need His grace so given
And hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven
Noel, Noel
Let us sing of the Saviour's birth
All hail His coming down to earth
Who raises us to Heaven

And is this the Angel Gabriel that you're referring to?

The Angel Gabriel from Heaven Came
By: Basque carol, para. Sabine Baring-Gould, 1834-1924
The angel Gabriel from heaven came,
With wings as drifted snow, with eyes as flame:
"All hail to thee, O lowly maiden Mary,
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!

"For know a blessed mother thou shalt be,
All generations laud and honor thee;
Thy son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold,
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!

Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head;
"To me be as it pleaseth God," she said.
"My soul shall laud and magnify God’s holy name."
Most highly favored lady." Gloria!

Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ, was born
In Bethlehem all on a Christmas morn,
And Christian folk through-out the world will ever say:
"Most highly favored lady." Gloria!

The Cup of Blessing

3/17/2008

The cup of blessing that we raise,
Is a communion with Christ’s own blood.

Tell me how can I repay the Lord,
For all the goodness he has shown to me
I will lift up the cup of salvation,
The name of God I will call.

O how precious in the sight of God
The death of those so faithful and so true
I’m your servant the child of your handmaid
Yes you have loosened my bonds

The Night Before Easter

2/25/2008

The night was so different from all the rest
And a silence covers the Earth;
The stars have no glimmer, the moon tries to hide,
For in death lies the man of their birth.

Chorus:
Then a stone moves, the Earth shakes (and) birds start singing,
The sun shines, the Earth warms (for) new life it's bringing;
A little boy stops crying, a mother is smiling,
For death could not hold their King

In a room filled with sorrow, a mother cries
For Jesus, her Son now is gone;
Her child sent from heaven was taken away,
Heart broken she feels all alone.

Chorus:
Then a stone moves, the Earth shakes (and) birds start singing,
The sun shines, the Earth warms (for) new life it's bringing;
A little boy stops crying, a mother is smiling,
For death could not hold their King

At the feet of his mother a little boy cries
Saying "'momma' I don't understand;"
I remember the look of love in His eyes,
That I saw, by the touch of His hand.

Chorus:
Then a stone moves, the Earth shakes (and) birds start singing,
The sun shines, the Earth warms (for) new life it's bringing;
A little boy stops crying, a mother is smiling,
For death could not hold their King

The King of all ages, the Giver of life,
For a moment lies silent and still;
But a power sent from heaven comes breaking the night,
And death must bow to His will.

Chorus:
Then a stone moves, the Earth shakes (and) birds start singing,
The sun shines, the Earth warms (for) new life it's bringing;
A little boy stops crying, a mother is smiling,
For death could not hold their King

When death could not hold their King.

The Morning Hangs a Signal

2/13/2008

1. The morn-ing hangs a sig-nal
up-on the moun-tain crest,
while all the sleep-ing val-leys
in sil-ent dark-ness rest;
From peak to peak it flash-es,
it laughs a-long the sky,
til glo-ry of the sun-light
on all the land doth lie.

2. A-bove the gen-er-a-tions,
the lone-ly proph-ets rise,
while truth flings dawn and day-star
with-in their glow-ing eyes;
And oth-er eyes, be-hold-ing,
are kind-led from that flame,
and dawn be-com-eth morn-ing,
as proph-ehts Love pro-claim.

3. The soul hath lift-ed mo-ments,
a-bove the drift of days,
when life's great mean-ing break-eth
in sun-rise on our ways;
Be-hold the ra-diant to-ken
of faith a-bove all fear;
Night soon shall end its splen-dor
that morn-ing shall ap-pear

O Mothering Father, God in Heaven

O Ho-ly One give hu-man-kind in eve-ry place its bread;
It is from Life's boun-ty each day that all souls should be fed.

2. For-give our trans-gres-sions, and teach com-pas-sion so we know
that whole-ness comes for-giv-ing sins of each and eve-ry foe;
And lead us not in-to ev-il, and save us from all sin;
That glo-ry, reign and pow-er be, for end-less worlds; A-men

The Glory of These Forty Days

2/09/2008

The glory of these forty days
We celebrate with songs of praise;
For Christ, by Whom all things were made,
Himself has fasted and has prayed.

Alone and fasting Moses saw
The loving God Who gave the law;
And to Elijah, fasting, came
The steeds and chariots of flame.

So Daniel trained his mystic sight,
Delivered from the lions' might;
And John, the Bridegroom's friend, became
The herald of Messiah's Name.

Then grant us, Lord, like them to be
Full oft in fast and prayer with Thee;
Our spirits strengthen with Thy grace,
And give us joy to see Thy face.

O Father, Son, and Spirit blest,
To thee be every prayer addressed,
Who art in threefold Name adored,
From age to age, the only Lord.

The Newborn King, Who Comes Today

12/18/2007

The newborn King,
Who comes today
Brings tidings of Great Joy,
Which sin can never take away
Nor death nor hell destroy.
Rejoice, ye Gentile lands, rejoice,
And hail the glorious dawn;
For God comes down, frail man to crown
The Lord of Life is Born!

He comes not as a king of earth,
In pomp and pride to reign;
He seeks a poor and humble birth,
But free from sinful stain;
Rejoice, ye Gentile lands, rejoice,
Glad hymns of triumph sing:
The Wonderful, the Counsellor
He comes your God and King!

For us He leaves his Father’s throne,
His sapphire throne on high,
And comes to dwell on earth alone,
For fallen man to die.
Rejoice, ye Gentile lands, rejoice,
All hail Messiah’s dawn;
Our God comes down, earth’s joy to crown
The King of Love is born!

Glad gentiles in their eastern home
His radiant star behold;
To God, their King, their joy they bring
Sweet incense myrrh and gold.
Rejoice, ye Gentile lands, rejoice,
In heaven your praises sing,
Before him fall, the Lord of All,
Your Maker and your King!

We join your song celestial throng,
Whose anthems never cease,
We tune our lyres with angel choirs,
To hail the Pince of Peace!
Rejoice, ye Gentile lands, rejoice,
All hail Immanuel’s morn;
For God comes down, frail man to crown;
To us a Child is born.

The Wexford Carol

1. Good people all, this Christmas-time,
Consider well and bear in mind
What our good God for us has done
In sending his beloved Son.
With Mary holy we should pray
To God with love this Christmas day;
In Bethlehem upon that morn
There was a blessed Messiah born.

2. The night before that happy tide
The noble Virgin and her guide
Were long time seeking up and down
To find a lodging in the town.
But mark how all things came to pass;
From every door repelled alas!
As long foretold, their refuge all
Was but an humble ox's stall.

3. There were three wise men from afar
Directed by a glorious star,
And on they wandered night and day
Until they came where Jesus lay,
And when they came unto that place
Where our beloved Messiah was,
They humbly cast them at his feet,
With gifts of gold and incense sweet.

4. Near Bethlehem did shepherds keep
Their flocks of lambs and feeding sheep;
To whom God's angels did appear,
Which put the shepherds in great fear.
'Prepare and go', the angles said.
'To Bethlehem, be not afraid:
For there you'll find, this happy morn,
A princely babe, sweet Jesus born.

5. With thankful heart and joyful mind,
The shepherds went the babe to find,
And as God's angel had foretold,
They did our saviour Christ behold.
Within a manger he was laid,
And by his side the virgin maid,
Attending on the Lord of life,
Who came on earth to end all strife.

Thine Be The Glory

12/10/2007

Thine be the glory, risen conquering Son,
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won
Angels in bright raiment rolled the stone away
Kept the folded grave-clothes, where Thy body lay.

Thine be the glory,risen conquering Son,
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won.

Lo Jesus meets us, risen from the tomb;
Lovingly He greets us, scatters fear and gloom;
Let the Church with gladness hymns of triumph sing,
For her Lord now liveth; death hath lost its sting.

Thine be the glory,risen conquering Son,
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won.

No more we doubt Thee, glorious Prince of life;
Life is nought without Thee: aid us in our strife;
Make us more than conquerors,through Thy deathless love:
Bring us safe through Jordan to Thy home above.

Thine be the glory,risen conquering Son,
Endless is the victory Thou o’er death hast won.
